Superstars to be jealous of?? -The Kpop's dark side

Everybody thinks the kpop stars life is so easy, simple, they can get what they want, they have tons of money & for the big travelers can also be jelly of they can see most parts of the world. They are perfect, with a perfect body shape, with face without pimples; they're always polite & smiley & each they of theirs is a big adventure. Or not? I don"t think you know what kind of things are happening in the background.
Apart from the hard training & sasaeng fans, let's see what do the idols have to face mentally. I bet after this post you won't find them as lucky & won't be that jealous as you are now.
In Korea popstars are trained at a very young age, nowadays more likely at the age of 16-18, so they can got on the market early. Before this "quick method" they joined the company at the age of 12-14. (Nowadays approximately 60-80 bands make their debut in a year.) So yeah, they made it, they got in, get your stuff from your home & move to the dorm. Then comes the fun! The trainees aren't some mommy cooked food eater- in the afternoon dance practising people. They aren't allowed to go home, only if their schedule let's it, and many agencies even take their cell phones [ next to the dorm].
In their contract there are clauses like how long cannot they date. It's known, Park Bom & Sandara Park, the members of 2ne1, who'll be 27 & 28 year old still cannot date. Marriage?? They can't even have a boyfriend! The prohibition of dating is not unique, many agencies use this method 'cause the idol either cries because of his/her partner, or get's him/herself done to the date but (s)he is not doing what (s)he has been signed: and this is moneymaking. Apart from dating distract their attention, there's another heavy reason they are not allowed to go out anybody: those crazy [ more likely mad] fangirls who can even quit their fandom, just because she know her idol dates with somebody. Conclusion: HUGE money loss for the company. Still there're some exceptions who can confess they have a girlfriend: fro example: Super Junior's Shindong, & there's Se7en who told his fans she has a girlfriend after 7 years. But the last case had it's result. 100 thousand fans had quit his fandom right the moment they knew the news. (Again money loss to the agency.) So the idols don't complain they're lonely, near at the age of 30 for nothing. Of course they are! They are humans who have the same feelings, dreams to raise a family but they can't. It is known JYJ member Jaejoong is always complaining about it on TV shows, at home he's crying into a bottle of wine, and even Rain leaves some hints about it'd be awesome, however... If not the agency is who forbids it, then it's the artists schedule- which is made by the agency. Programs after programs, tons of variety shows to attend, they get up in a different country everyday, MV filming, photo shooting, interviews here & there, fanmeets- do i have to continue? They're happy they can get 3 hours of sleep at the backseat of their van, they neither have energy nor time to even think about dating. Of course you can always find exceptions, but if you compare the "dating ones" with the non dating ones you get a minimal percentage, and usually it's not the famous part.
Jaejoong is worried because of his looks, his age and loneliness.
The Human Rights of Korea has even noted the case and stated these teens can be affected by psychiatric disorders because here there's only one place for socialization: the dorm and then the changing rooms at the backstage of show business. They are locked day and night, some of them doesn't even know how to use public transport or how to pay a check in, or what is tax return. Then when they'll be too old for the stage they won't even know what to do with their life. Psychiatric disorders in the case of some idols can be clearly seen 'casue don't tell me it is normal for Big Bang's TOP -a twenty x year old man- to collect stuffed animals or also Big Bang member G Dragon & Super Junior's Heechul likes to wear woman dresses. Not to mention Park Bom's eating habits & Lee Hongki's mood swings in every blink of an eye.
Rain shares once how he had 0% of body fat (from 5.28)
And here's the look topic. These people have to be superperfect. Of course, like in every case, there're exceptions like the world famous Psy or Shindong but their image is based on their "chubby being". Who doesn't own exceptionally good sense of humor or funny look has to own a flawless body. Continuous diets, endless training doesn't matter if you like it or not. For the boys there's the must have six packs, for the girls pretty legs, wasp like waist and if their faces are not pretty enough, just some minutes and they are at the surgery.
What about the unbelievably high suicidal rate? In the case of the stars the main reason is the depression, everybody has it in different parts of their career, some of them can get over it, some of them not. Kim Hyunjoong's case is well known: how his best friend Jajejoong saved his life. Some gosipp says: Hyunjoong wanted to take medicines in- however some says he just couldn't fall asleep that's why he needed the pills but he took more than the necessary. The only one who knows the truth is him. But it's a 1000% sure fact most of the kpop idols live on medicines & tranquilizers. Jaejoong's Come on over DVD proves this. You can find cartons of medicines in his home. Wonder Girl's Sunye had thoughts about suicide during her trainee years, 'cause she had been training oner years but the company didn't let her to make a debut. The "always trying to correspond" status is indeed a unique asian psychological condition let's add some freaking hard training system where you either live up to the expectations anyways there's the street. Also let's correspond to some intentional screwing by your manager and heyehoo the suicide candidate is ready.
It is also true for the established stars, they are extremely OVERWORKED. There's no month without news like somebody collapsed during practise or performance, the infusion stand is a regular part of the idols' tour stuffs. To make it even harder, going to a psychologist in Asia isn't a really accepted thing. The live by the motto: If you have problems keep it for yourself which is especially true for the stars 'cause their lives are followed by millions of fans. What would happen if it would fade out XY is going to a psychiatrist? Mad scandals, humiliation and the decrease of the shares. The problems are accumulating, they have to keep more and more pressure inside and then some of them can't bear it anymore like Park Yongha. There are who are a part of sexual harassment like Jang Ja-yeon. Also there is actress Choi Jin-sil's case, where she divorced from her husband who had beaten him and his agency sued her saying that the woman has to give a happy and respectful image but she couldn't do it with her beaten face and gave a bad look to the company's image. The Supreme Court's answer came after months of the actresses death: they agreed with the company. [ WTF? ] Kim Yuri supermodell's reason to committing suicide was she couldn't bear the continuous diets to keep her super slim figure anymore. Song Ji-seon host jumped off from her flat 'cause she told her agency she's dating with a baseball player while the agency told her to take leave of absence.
The kpop idols' lives aren't as glamorous as you think. They often work 14-18 hours in a row, but there are times when they have to stand on their feet through 24-30 hours. Sometimes they sleep where there time allows: here you can see Jaejoong sleeping on the ground at an airport.
And Infinite's Sung Yeol getting some rest during work.
F(x)'s Krystal faints during the performance.
Krystal faints again after their performance on TV show Kiss and cry.
SHINee's Taemin can't keep it up after performing Sherlock 8 times in a row.
The reason of overworking: sprained ankle and many other injuries. No matter how hard you've injured you have to work. Here Junsu has to perform in a wheelchair.
Taemin misses his family.
Here's a site about SHINee's Taemin bullying when he attended school: Taemin bullying
To sum up: it's not like how you see it from the commercials, photos & wonderful movies. Talent is way not enough, these teens have to give up on many things from their life, they don't have normal relationships, friends, they can rarely see their family, it's not unique if during one week they have to travel to 5-6 countries, they don't get enough sleep but they are completely overworked. The most famous ones can't even get out of their dorms 'cause the fans will immediately "attack" him, the paparazzis are in their corner, not to talk about the maddest fans, the sasaeng fans who can even cause car accidents just to get their beloved idol's sign or poison who isn't likable for them.
Of course we can say who decide to start this career know what (s)he does, but i'd like to ask them: dear 16 year old XY did you know exactly what are you choosing? It's even hard for an adult to make decisions, not even to a teen who only wants to dance and sing. Everybody thinks that (s)he will be able to keep up with the dark side of the show business's dark side but the suicides above prove it it's not like this at all. If you're dropped into this system it's really hard to get out of it without scars, especially if you are a person who is admired by millions of fans and have to live up to their expectations.
By a survey in South Korea 40% of the actors/actresses has thought about committing suicide. Think about it next time when you say: "oh how lucky (s)he is!".
