Yeeyy post shower September! This one goes for the kpop hearted ones ♥ :)
As the title shows I'll be revealing my thoughts on GD's new song, so it's COMPLETELY NOT from some kind of official site, it is what I get from the song.
To start off with the title: it's already says "this song will be no joke". Who else gives coup as a title? Does he mean coup against the company or against himself or what?
I was ready to hear something craziness like "Crayon" or "Why so serious" but I definitely was prepared for this. I saw the teaser photos but I wasn't surprised on them, I mean it was so "GDish". Though you can draw conclusions from the lot of black.
Moving on to the intro lines it's like some kind of encouraging speech..."The revolution is in your mind/ The revolution is here"- like he would say: it's time to change. Either he means he/his song will make changes in the entertainment business as you can see him lying on the floor grabbing a stone...
Then comes the song - I genuinely think it's one of the most emotional k-song I've heard. I don't state I know what Jiyoung meant with each word of it, but I surely got a bit of it.
In the first verse he states himself as somebody you should hide away. "I'm scary F-killer" " Gorilla who steals girls' hearts". While you can see his heart bleeding on the screen.
"With my one song/ You can get robbed at the company" I assume with the following lines he proves he is one important part of YG Entertainment. Also it can be a message, like I earn money with my song, while you do other stuff & may you think my job is easy but I really work hard for it.
"You'll never know fame"- this line can have double meaning as well. Once: you will never be as famous as I am. Second: you will never really know what fame demands (such as:giving up family & friends for pursuing your dream, spending days at the company training yourself).
Then we can see him sitting at a desk, surrounded by boiling money. In the second verse he also refers to how busy he is, how he cannot have a little time spent quietly because "his phone is ringing like a newborn child". GD is fresh, GD is clean, GD is absolutely flawless. So flawless that drives him crazy.
Then comes my favorite "visual part". We can hear some beats from "Why so serious", seeing him lying on the white ground& wearing a black beak, surrounded by dead crows. I really like how they solved to change scenes with that spinning motion. It's followed by white masks, black tear drops & black G Dragon. As GD takes off his mask, I can only think about he wants us to see Jiyoung or at least realize his G Dragon self is just the cover. "...You want some more it's not enough"- I feel so sad to read this line. It's a proof how insatiable humanity can be.
At the end of the MV we can see red flags, red GD & a red half peace sign... What do you think that can mean?
