Review session: The perks of being a wallflower (book & movie), How to train your dragon 2
2014. július 19. | 7/19/2014 | 0Comment

I've mentioned before that I'm planning to write reviews since I've read & watched a good amount of books/movies.

Review no. 1: The perks of being a wallflower

I bought this book for my cousin, Kate, for Christmas. She really liked the Catcher in the Rye and this book is mentioned as the new generation version of that work. Since I haven't read CitR nor this book's jacket flap, I did not know what to expect. I thought it will resemble to Jeff Kinney's 'Diary of a wimpy kid' (even though I did not read this novel either-so I still have no idea if they do resemble or not).

But the end result was something like this:

I WAS TOTALLY NOT EXPECTING THESE THINGS TO HAPPEN. This book is a lot stronger than I thought it would be. Now I see why is it forbidden in some school. And in others why is it recommended. I cannot decide which option to choose either. Since this book covers mot of (if not all of) the things teens go through, it would be useful for youngsters to read about it and learn the lesson without going through the bad lessons themselves. However what if the novel will give them temptation to try 'those' 'cool' stuffs?

To rate the work...Honestly I had(still having) a hard time to decide if I liked it or not. Generally I think I liked it, but there were some parts where I thought the writer went too far.

For example at the poem part. Since the book (I assume) is targeting mainly teenagers, it can be hard to understand for the younger audience.

I have another problem. The book's main message would be child abuse but what do you think, how many percentage of the teenagers would get it? Even myself (and a bunch of other people of my age and even older readers) couldn't understand it for the first read.

So little me would recommend this book rather to young adults than to teenagers.

Hands down, if it's read by the right people you can learn a lot. The perks of being a wallflower is definitely an exciting book, but I wouldn't call it an easy read at all. You must focus to get the puzzle pieces together.

Review no. 1.5: TPoBW movie edition

i LOVED it.

Unlike the book, I can definitely say I was in love with the film.

It was a lot more gentle than the book, while I was preparing to see the 'cruel' things happening on my monitor.

They did not.

On the other hand that's why I was sorry too. I felt like they left out too many scenes. The movie has some lessons to teach as well, but a lot less than the book.

For the characters: since the 3 main role is on the cover of the book I didn't have the regular 'i-did-not-imagine-him/her-at-all-like-that' problem. Oh! Two words: Ezra Miller. That man is pure gorgeousity. He made up for every problem I had (Also a strong indicator why I liked the movie both talent- and visual-vise [I think this implies to most of the cast]).

Logan Lerman, at first glance, is a handsome guy, whom I wouldn't imagine that he is able to pull of such an introverted/depressed role. (Also he kinda resembles to Zac Efron -for me at least).
Emma Watson is beautiful as always and I couldn't imagine better actress for the role of Sam.

Music vise I felt it perfect. The songs that were used fitted so well in the movie, they supported to the scenes perfectly.

Last but not least: what made me love the movie so much?

The last pictures. The music. The last sentence. All in all, the ending was perfect.

you don't know how glad i was that Charlie used this sentence
in present continuous.

I definitely recommend it. You MUST watch it guise! :)

Review no.2: How to train your dragon 2

Wow! Wooooow! I was not expecting this! (either lol)

I haven't seen the first part, whereas my brother kept telling me to do so (if he recommends something it is definitely good). Right now I can't wait the moment to watch it (it will most likely happen tomorrow :D).

We watched Maleficent a couple weeks ago and I dare to say that I find HTTYD a LOT better. Somehow it got my attention better. I literally couldn't take my eyes off the screen even for a single moment.

This movie contains everything that's necessary to entertain the viewer: it has awesome flying/skydiving (note: we watched the normal version aka. not the 3D and those scenes were amazing even like that), rebounding, happy to sappy, sappy to happy, getting together scenes - no wonder, you will sometimes forget to take a breath.
I watched it in Hungarian dubbing, so I cannot say anything about the original voice acting, but the Hungarian one was very well casted.

Today's film industry is stuffed with animation movies, however only a couple of it owns this movie's quality. That's why I'm so thankful for DreamWorks they made this movie happen.

I definitely became fond of it and am excitedly looking forward to part 3 of the sequel.

I think you can find out that I gonna recommend this piece too. But this is for everyone: for little, for big, for young, for old. I watched it with my friends, I think this is an awesome pick to go with if you want to watch something with your fellas. Everybody has a little kid inside, this movie for sure will bring that child out! :)

Have fun while watching it! ^_^

That's all for now, hope you enjoyed! Write to you soon! xoxo ♥
